Moneybagg Yo’s High-Flying ‘Motion God’ Video Celebrates With His Bread Gang Brothers

With his new album Hard To Love coming soon, Moneybagg Yo rolls out his latest single, the Cash Money-inspired “Motion God.” The song, produced by T-Head and Skywalker OG, employs a throwback bounce-inflected beat, while Bagg boasts, “Plenty fancy cars / It’s a whole lot of motion involved / Diamonds and tattoos cover my scars / New Cadillac bulletproof, cost three-hundred large.”

The video sees Bagg celebrating his Bread Gang compatriots, setting up a “Last Supper”-esque spread outside of a Miami mansion, where the crew flashes stacks of cash and big chains while low-key cosplaying as Cash Money Records rappers circa “the ’99 and the 2000.” In separate scenes, Bagg shows off his cars and a motorcycle (adorned by two bikini-clad beauties, naturally), and even raps in front of a helicopter while repping his hometown Grizzlies with a throwback jersey from their Vancouver days. The Grizz are currently tied 1-1 with the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs, so maybe this will give them the extra boost they need to overcome.

Although Hard To Love doesn’t have a release date yet, Moneybagg has already released the singles “Quickie” and “On Wat U On.” In his Uproxx cover story, Bagg said the album “is really personal, but I know the world is going to relate to it because of the stuff I’m saying, the subject matter, I know people going through what I went through across the globe.”

Vic Mensa, Chance The Rapper, And G-Eazy Get Loose On The Frenetic ‘Swish’

If you push play on Vic Mensa‘s new song “Swish” above expecting to hear a redux of his and Chance The Rapper‘s 2021 reunion “Shelter,” you’re going to be sorely disappointed. While the first two names involved, Vic and Chance, might suggest a thoughtful or contemplative vibe, “Swish” seems to be taken from the oeuvre of their third collaborator, G-Eazy.

It’s actually a frantic club song, over which Chance, Vic, and Gerald rap praise to the twerkers while boasting the trappings of their wealth, from name-checking Rick Owens, The Ramones, and Al Capone to comparing their fists to Thanos — because they have too many stones, you see.

Honestly, if Chance and Vic are entering their party-boy era as both approach 30, you kind of have to give it to them. They spent their early 20s as the avatars of poetic, introspective rap, then got shunted into two lanes that wound up disappointing some of their earliest fans; Vic went through both a punk-rock phase and became the latest flag-bearer for so-called “conscious” rap, while Chance became known as the wife guy, whether fairly or not.

We know from the social media kerfuffle earlier this week that Chance likes to let it all hang loose once in a while, and frankly, it’s nice to see them shed their buttoned-up, super-serious professional presentation for at least a little bit. Check out “Swish” above and stay tuned.

Beyoncé Asked Megan Thee Stallion To Rework Her ‘Savage Remix’ Verse, As Meg Hilariously Explained

Megan Thee Stallion is having a hard-earned moment, but for the rest of her life, it will be hard to top the full-circle moment of collaborating with her fellow Houstonian Beyoncé on 2020’s “Savage Remix,” a Grammy-winning track that hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Meg reflected on that milestone and her other “Hottest Career Moments,” an extension of her reign as the cover star of Elle‘s May issue:

“Beyoncé probably so tired of me saying her name,” Megan Thee Stallion said, giggling, about 70 seconds into the video. “We were in quarantine at this time. Beyoncé did the [‘Savage Remix’]. I didn’t believe she was actually gonna do it, but she did it, and my mind was blown. I called my granny. Me and my manager was in my living room, going crazy.”

She continued, “Beyoncé was like, ‘Could you please make your verse a little bit cleaner?’ I went in my living room, and I recorded it right then. Like, Beyoncé didn’t have to tell me twice! I sent that verse right back. But it was amazing. Everybody knows that I am obsessed with Beyoncé, so when I got the collab — like, being from Houston with her — I was just appreciative. When I saw people dancing to the song, vibing to it, loving it, how many famous people was dancing to the song, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, y’all know me.’”

A few hours ago, Latto dropped a fresh single, “Put It On Da Floor.” To open the track’s second verse, she raps, “Smokin’ on that gas, blunt big as Coi Leray.” Leray didn’t care for that.

What Time Does Bad Bunny Perform At Coachella 2023 Weekend 2?

Bad Bunny is undoubtedly one of today’s global superstars. That status can be credited in large part to the success of his 2022 album Un Verano Sin Ti. The project was a mainstay on the charts and it set multiple records along the way. Since its release, Bad Bunny performed several shows that gave fans from all over the opportunity to hear those songs live. That trend continues with Bad Bunny’s headlining gig at Coachella’s 2023 festival. After headlining the showcase last weekend with Frank Ocean and Blackpink, Bad Bunny will return this weekend to fulfill his full Coachella duties alongside Blackpink, Fred Again.., Four Tet, and Skrillex.

A day before Coachella kicked off its second weekend, they revealed the official set times for weekend two. Thanks to that, we now know that Bad Bunny will perform at 11:00 p.m. PT on Friday, April 21. His performance will take place on the Coachella Stage following sets by Gorillaz (8:35 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.), Burna Boy (7:05 p.m. to 7:50 p.m.), Becky G (5:35 p.m. to 6:20 p.m.), Pusha T (4:20 p.m. to 5:05 p.m.), Doechii (3:20 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.).

Don’t worry at all if you’re unable to make your way to Indio, California. Coachella will livestream the performances on YouTube with each stage having its own feed, barring any exceptions.

To prepare for Bad Bunny’s upcoming headlining performance, you can revisit his setlist from weekend one here.

A YSL Attorney Was Arrested For Bringing Contraband To Court And Throwing His Phone At A Deputy

The YSL RICO case — which has been underway since January, with court selection taking up most of the three months since — took yet another dramatic turn this week, as Atlanta local news reports one of the attorneys for the defense was arrested for battery and bringing contraband to court this morning.

Anastasios Manettas was handcuffed and charged with one count of simple battery against a law enforcement officer, one count of obstruction, and two counts of pills not in their original container after being caught allegedly bringing the prescription pills to the Fulton County courthouse and throwing his phone at a deputy. Manettas is the defense attorney for Young Thug co-defendant Miles Fairley.

He wasn’t the first person to be caught allegedly smuggling contraband into the courthouse. In January, co-defendant Yak Gotti’s mother was arrested and charged with a criminal attempt to commit a misdemeanor after trying to pass the rapper a bag reportedly filled with tobacco and rolling papers.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, another defendant, Rodaluis “Lil Rod” Ryan, was led out of the courtroom after being suspected of having marijuana in his possession but made a commotion loud enough to be heard in the courtroom, prompting the courtroom to be cleared.

In three months, not a single juror has been selected, although some potential jurors have been censured for not taking the process seriously. One of the defendants, Jayden Myrick, aka SetTrip, filed a motion in February to have the case declared a mistrial due to discovery material being made public and potentially biasing any jurors against him.

The entire case, of course, hinges on the state’s belief that YSL Records is not just a record label, but a criminal organization.

‘Beavis And Butt-Head,’ Just Like Lil Dicky’s ‘Dave’ Character, Are Not Fans Of Jack Harlow

I think it’s safe to say Jack Harlow is having a great week. The new trailer for White Men Can’t Jump, in which he stars, looks great, and he’s more than a comedic match in the teaser for Dave that came out yesterday. So, even having Beavis & Butt-Head, those icons of the ’90s counter-culture hating on probably can’t bring him down.

In the recently rebooted show, which is now streaming on Paramount +, the two foul-mouthed slackers bestow Harlow with their trademark snark as they watch the video for Lil Nas X’s “Industry Baby.” “This video’s, like, really groundbreaking because Jack Harlow’s not in it,” Butt-Head intones, just before Harlow hits the screen for his oft-remarked-upon guest verse. “Euuugh, nevermind.”

In another episode, the duo also regards Audrey Nuna‘s “Comic Sans” video, which Harlow also guests in. “If Jack Harlow was tattooing me,” Butt-Head jokes, “I’d have him tattoo ‘Jack Harlow sucks.’” Well, you know what they say: All publicity is good publicity.

Thanks, Stereogum for the spot.

Despite B&B‘s harsh judgment, it looks very much like the world’s going to be getting all the Jack Harlow it can handle. In addition to working on his third album, Jack’s also landed his next movie role alongside Matt Damon and continues to see his music reach new milestones. I wrote this earlier today, but it’s a bad week for Harlow haters.

Jack Harlow Is A Trash-Talking Sharpshooter In The Latest ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ Trailer

Bad news for the Jack Harlow haters — which, apparently, includes fellow white rapper/hooper Lil Dicky — but the White Men Can’t Jump remake looks GREAT in its new trailer. All the hallmarks of the original remain intact: the trash talk, the friction between the two protagonists (and between them and their ladies), and even the classic Los Angeles hoop locations, including the “Watts Oasis” court (fire), the world-famous Venice Beach courts (cool, but open runs down there be bunk sometimes), and Angel’s Gate Park in San Pedro (trash, don’t play there unless you feel like chasing your ball into the Pacific Ocean).

Everything gets a modern update as well; Jack comments that his opposite, Sinqua Walls’, stereotyping him for being white is outdated (he was really stereotyping the ‘fit, which… understandable), the hustlers trade cash via apps (Jack even trash talks Sinqua’s choice of apps), and the famous Marques Johnson “Imma get my other gun” gets an upgrade courtesy of Elon Musk.

Also making appearances in the film are fellow rapper-turned-actor Vince Staples (my new favorite thanks to his recurring role on Abbott Elementary, although you could see the potential even in his five minutes in Dope) and the late, great Lance Reddick, as well as Teyana Taylor and Laura Harrier. There’s really something for everybody. This writer, at least, will be seated, as the kids say, on May 19, when the movie debuts on Hulu. Check out the trailer above.

Post Malone Is Getting His Own Greatest Hits Album After Breaking A Record For Diamond-Certified Singles

Post Malone is having a good year, whether he’s drinking beer out of a shoe in Australia or releasing new music. It’s getting even better after the recent announcement that he’s earned a major achievement.

Today, April 20, Universal Music Group shared a statement that “Circles,” “Better Now,” and “I Fall Apart” all exceeded the diamond threshold, according to Billboard. This makes Posty the artist with the most RIAA Diamond-certified singles at eight total. Therefore, he’ll be unleashing a greatest hits album called The Diamond Collection, to celebrate his victory. Lucky for fans, it’ll drop as soon as tomorrow, April 21, so they don’t have to wait long.

Meanwhile, the “Better Now” performer recently opened a special Cane’s store designed by himself in Midvale, Utah. “I have the best childhood memories of eating at Raising Cane’s in Dallas,” he said about it in a statement. “Collaborating with Todd on this restaurant near my house in Utah was awesome and I can’t wait for everyone to order their meal the ‘Posty Way.’”

Find the tracklist for The Diamond Collection below.

Frank Ocean Admits His Infamous Coachella 2023 Performance Was ‘Chaotic’ In A New Statement

For the past few days since last weekend, Frank Ocean’s headlining performance at Coachella 2023’s first weekend has remained on people’s minds. His set was a bit of a disaster, and later, reports surfaced that Ocean’s plan for the show had to be changed last-minute because he sustained an injury days before the performance. Then, it was confirmed yesterday (April 19) that Ocean is no longer scheduled to headline the upcoming second weekend of Coachella.

That news was confirmed via an official statement, and in that statement, Ocean reflected on his ill-fated first-weekend performance. In the statement, provided by an Ocean representative to Uproxx yesterday, Ocean said:

“It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.”

The statement also included a message not directly attributed to Ocean. It offers some context about the situation, reading, “After suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1, Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity. On doctor’s advice, Frank is not able to perform weekend 2 due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.”
