Does Tyler The Creator Have A Child?

Has Tyler The Creator been hiding a child (© Pusha T)? Fans have good reason to wonder after the Hawthorne, California-raised rapper might have just coolly revealed that information in his new, previously unreleased song “Dogtooth.”

In the song’s chorus, he brags and warns listeners at the same time, “I’m tryna buy my neighbor house and turn it to a yard / If you don’t know my grandma name, then we ain’t really dogs.” However, on the final repetition of the chorus, he switches up that last line: “If you don’t know my daughter name, then we ain’t really dogs.”

However, it looks like that was just a bit of creative license on Tyler’s part. Shortly after the release of “Dogtooth,” the mischievous rabble-rouser denied having children on Twitter: “i dont have kids and dont plan on it hahaha,” he wrote. Of course… he could be trolling there, if he isn’t in the song. With Tyler The Creator, you never know.

All the same, it does look like Tyler’s expecting; “Dogtooth” is just the first song from the impending release of Call Me If You Get Lost: The Estate Sale. As T explained on Twitter, “CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST WAS THE FIRST ALBUM I MADE WITH ALOT OF SONGS THAT DIDNT MAKE THE FINAL CUT. SOME OF THOSE SONGS I REALLY LOVE, AND KNEW THEY WOULD NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY, SO IVE DECIDED TO PUT A FEW OF THEM OUT.”

Tyler The Creator’s Flashy ‘Dogtooth’ Video Announces A Project Of Unreleased Songs From ‘Call Me If You Get Lost’

Tyler The Creator gave fans a peek behind the creative curtain today, revealing a little bit of his process while promising some exciting news for the days ahead.

CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST WAS THE FIRST ALBUM I MADE WITH ALOT OF SONGS THAT DIDNT MAKE THE FINAL CUT,” he revealed on Twitter. “SOME OF THOSE SONGS I REALLY LOVE, AND KNEW THEY WOULD NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY, SO IVE DECIDED TO PUT A FEW OF THEM OUT.” The first is “Dogtooth,” the video for which you can watch above.

In the video, Ty climbs into the cab of a crane, with which he lifts his Rolls Royce Phantom into the air… just a light flex, you know. There’s also a great top-down aerial shot through the sunroof of his classic BMW as the consummate performer does donuts and raps to the camera overhead. Lyrically, it’s all straight-up braggadocio, with lines like “my girl look like Zazie Beetz and Kelis” punctuating a relaxed flow over a glittery, Neptunes-ish beat.

The infobox on the YouTube for “Dogtooth” bears the more exciting notice: Call Me If You Get Lost: The Estate Sale — billed as “a collection of songs that didnt make the original album” — will be out on 3/31 via Columbia Records.

Drake Canceled On Lollapalooza Brasil The Morning Of After Partying At 50 Cent’s Strip Club Event In Miami The Night Before

Drake’s international Lollapalooza sets aren’t going so well. Earlier this month, he cut his Lollapalooza Argentina set short, and this past weekend, he didn’t show up to his Lollapalooza Brasil performance at all.

On the morning of Sunday, March 26 (the day Drake was supposed to perform), a message shared on social media by Lollapalooza Brasil read (as translated via Google Translate), “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Drake is without members of his sound and production team, essential to the realization of the Lollapalooza show in São Paulo. Drake was excited to perform for his fans in Brazil. Unfortunately, this is beyond his control. Sorry.”

The festival tapped Skrillex to headline in Drake’s place and offered refunds if festivalgoers chose not to attend the final day. CNN Brasil notes that Willow, Dominic Fike, Blink-182, Omar Apollo, and 100 Gecs also pulled out of this year’s festival.

Per another CNN Brasil report, a video shared on social media shows Drake at a 50 Cent-led event at Miami’s Booby Trap On The River strip club, happily chatting with 50. This apparently happened hours before Drake canceled on Lollapalooza Brasil; The 50 Cent event was on Saturday night and the festival announced Drake would no longer be performing on Sunday morning. Some on social media also noticed that the jet Drake was set to take to Brazil deviated from its planned route before landing in Miami.

It’s not currently known if Drake’s presence at the party led to his Lolla cancellation, or if he decided to attend the event after it had already been determined he would not be able to perform at the festival.

Jennifer Lopez Actually Cut Jane Fonda’s Face During ‘Monster-In-Law’ Slap Scene: ‘She’s Never Apologized’

Ben Affleck may get a lot of flack for his grumpy face, but according to Jane Fonda, it’s Jennifer Lopez that the public should be worried about. During the legendary actress’ appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show alongside her 80 For Brady co-star Lily Tomlin, she dished about her time working with the singer on the 2005 film Monster-In-Law.

As host Barrymore asked the pair about their memories of some of their most beloved characters when Fonda was asked about Monster-In-Law, of course, the infamous slap scene took center stage. “The thing that comes to mind right away is we have a slapping scene – I slap her, she slaps me,” said Fonda.

But as Fonda continued, things got a bit more interesting, “Well, Jennifer, as per Jennifer, she had this enormous diamond ring, and so when she slapped me one of the times, it cut open across my eye – my eyebrow,” and as the in-studio audience gasped she added, “And, she’s never apologized.”

TikToker users may add this story to their ongoing list of reasons not to like the star, but clearly, the interaction didn’t leave the pair with any bad blood. Especially given the fact that Fonda attended and was named by Lopez as one of her role models during her speech as she unveiled her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013.

Questlove Once Got Mistaken For Afroman And Chased Through London

Questlove has dedicated his lengthy and highly-decorated career to uplifting Black people. He’s launched his new publishing imprint Auwa Books. He’s organized the 50th anniversary of hip hop tribute at this year’s Grammy Awards. He’s made public archival footage of the Harlem Cultural Festival for his Oscar Award-winning, documentary Summer Of Soul. He’s spoken out against the erasure of African-American studies in Florida schools. He’s done it all. Yet despite all of his accomplishments, still, to some, all Black people look alike.

After “Because I Got High” musician Afroman was sued by several Ohio police officers because he used footage of their botched raid of his home, Questlove took to Instagram for an epic storytime. Long story short, back in 2003, Questlove got mistaken for Afroman and was chased through London by fans of the musician.

In the post shared to Instagram, Questlove writes, “Man. The one time in my life I got chased in a city unprepared ‘Speed Demon’ video style was when I had a day off in London. I thought I’d hang around the old neighborhood and go record shopping. I had zero clue that ‘Because I Got High’ was a massive hit in Europe.”

When spotted by, as he put it, “[t]hree drunk dudes,” shouting, “Oh sh*t Afroman! ‘because I got high,’” things quickly escalated. Questlove continued, “[It] started with three dudes, and then they got belligerent, and now the site of me speed walking only confirms their drunken notions. Now it’s 4….soon 7. Now, I’m crossing the street, almost getting hit cause I forget the traffic goes the opposite way. Now it’s a mob of 11 yelling and singing ‘Because I Got High.’”

Questlove confesses the experience “[w]as more annoying than dangerous.” Still, he’s “Slightly irked that I know to this day those mofos for the last 20 years have been the life of the party giving their version of spotting a one-hit wonder who refused to show his gratitude when they acknowledged him.”

Snoop Dogg’s Lyric And Signature Catchphrase Was The Reason Why One News Anchor Got Fired

It may not be any fun if the homies can’t have none, but one Mississippi news anchor learned the hard way that sometimes it’s for your good to avoid temptation. WLBT journalist and meteorologist Barbie Bassett’s on-air use of rapper Snoop Dogg’s lyric and signature slang catchphrase was the reason why she might be out of a job.

During a broadcast, as Bassett and her co-anchors discussed the entrepreneur’s latest collaboration with the wine company, 19 Crimes, she closed with a line that the musician popularized in the early 2000s, “Fo shizzle, my nizzle.”

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

On the surface, the phrase that has appeared in several of Snoop’s songs as a throwaway lyric, may seem innocent enough. However, when translated from AAVE (African-American Vernacular English), it means, “for sure, my n****.”

Although the network has not released a formal statement, Bassett is no longer listed under the news team on its website. Bassett’s professional biography has also been scrubbed from the website.

When the clip went viral on social media, people called for Bassett to be rehired as it was a simple mistake. However, in another clip Bassett used the term “Grandmammy” to refer to her coworker of color’s grandmother. “Mammy” is a negative stereotype of Black women seen in earlier films where Black women were domestic servants to white families. Users now feel that Bassett’s use of the term “nizzle” was intentional.

To be clear, Basset did apologize for using the term “grandmammy.” But she hasn’t issued one for using the term “nizzle.” This isn’t the first time an anchor used Snoop Dogg’s lyrics on air.

Coi Leray Brings Busta Rhymes To Prove They Are ‘Players’ On A Brand New Remix

Coi Leray added none other than Busta Rhymes on her new song, “Players,” for an added verse of the remixed hit.

“It never ends, the way we doing it and how we f*cking them up again / Look how we got them, DJ Saige killing them with the blend,” Busta breaks out in his lyrics.

The remix addition also felt a little like fate, as “Players” previously got a mashup from DJ Saige with Busta Rhymes’ 1997 song, “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See.”

Leray samples Grandmaster Flash’s 1982 song, “The Message,” on “Players.” The song marks her fourth in Billboard‘s Hot 100 songs chart — and could very well enter the Top 10. (It already has in the UK and Australia, according to the publication.)

“I started working with more writers towards the end of last year,” she also shared with Billboard about the creation process of “Players,” which included a collaborative session. “I worked with writers in the past, but I remember I was a little stubborn — like, ‘I don’t need nobody to write for me.’ My pen game is amazing but this year is the first time I learned structure to a song. Like the verse, pre-chorus, bridge, hook.”

Snoop Dogg Is Continuing His Years-Long Campaign For A Cameo On A Popular British Soap Opera Show

Snoop Dogg is once again proclaiming his love for a UK television soap opera, Coronation Street, after speaking to The Sun. The rapper loves it so much that he wants to be on the series — and has been trying for a while.

Coronation Street, I love it,” he said. “If they call me I’ll do it. I’ll play whenever they need. I love the cinematography, acting, the storylines and just the reality.

“I’d like to be a part of it because they’ve been a part of my culture,” Snoop added.

Back in 2010, he also revealed to BBC that he was trying — but is still waiting for a cameo over a decade later.

“I had my agent reach out to them to see if they could try to get me on and they said they were interested so hopefully it might happen,” Snoop said (via the BBC). “It would be perfect for me to be on the show.”

Speaking of coronations, Snoop also said that he’d be around to perform at King Charles’ ceremony in May, after a number of major artists have reportedly passed. “I’m down to perform at the coronation. Make it happen.”

His reasoning includes the fact that the late Queen Elizabeth accepted him back in the mid-90s. “When they tried to kick me out of England, the Queen made a comment that her grandbabies loved Snoop Doggy Dogg, and he had done no wrong in Britain, so she gave me permission to be here,” he added.

Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’ Lawsuit Was Dismissed Over An ‘Entirely Different’ Song

Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) has officially had a lawsuit against his 2018 song, “This Is America,” dismissed. In 2021, Kidd Wes (real name Emelike Nwosuocha) sued Glover and claimed that the track was “practically identical” to his 2016 track, “Made In America.”

However, according to Billboard, U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero ruled yesterday (March 24) that there is no reasoning and tossed the lawsuit.

“A cursory comparison with the challenged composition reveals that the content of the choruses is entirely different and not substantially similar,” Marrero wrote. He claimed that Nwosuocha’s words were a “short, simple, self-aggrandizing proclamation” and Glover‘s were on “what America means and how it is perceived.”

“More could be said on the ways these songs differ, but no more airtime is needed to resolve this case,” he added.

Nwosuocha’s attorneys, Imran H. Ansari and La’Shawn N. Thomas, offered a statement to the publication about how their client felt about the ruling, citing that he was “understandably disappointed.”

“He stands by his music, creativity, and the independence of grassroots artists to create their own music, and receive credit where credit is due, without the fear of it being apportioned by another,” they shared.

His team has also noted that they aren’t ruling out appealing the decision, but only time will tell.

Lizzo Made A ‘Special’ Surprise Appearance At The Final Show Of SZA’s ‘SOS’ Tour

This past week, SZA’s SOS tour came to a close at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. After a successful run, the “Kill Bill” hitmaker had to go out with a bang.

Early on in the night, SZA was joined by Phoebe Bridgers, and the two performed their collaboration, “Ghost In The Machine.” Bridgers had previously made a surprise appearance at SZA’s New York City show at Madison Square Garden.

Toward the end of the night, Lizzo made a surprise appearance, and the two performed SZA’s remix of “Special,” the title track to Lizzo’s sophomore album.

This is perhaps a full-circle moment for the two collaborators and besties, as SZA made a surprise appearance during the final show of Lizzo’s Special tour last year, which is where the two revealed the “Special” remix.

On SOS, Lizzo and SZA collaborated on the rock-influenced “F2F,” on which, Lizzo co-wrote and contributed background vocals. In an interview with Rolling Stone’s Music Now podcast last December, SZA revealed that she and Lizzo recorded “five or six songs” during the SOS recording sessions. Perhaps some more of their collabs will appear on the upcoming SOS deluxe edition.

You can check out clips from the SZA concert above.

Lizzo is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
