Will Drake & 21 Savage Tour In The UK And Europe?

Last year, Drake surprised fans with not just one, but two albums. The second, Her Loss, was a joint album released alongside 21 Savage and instantly became a fan favorite. As the new dynamic duo rolled out singles like “Spin Bout U” and generated memes thanks to “Rich Flex,” fans couldn’t help but wonder whether they’d eventually announce a tour for the project.

Those fans got their wish today as Drake and 21 announced their It’s All A Blur Tour, which kicks off in New Orleans in June and circles the US and Canada, leading to a final show in Glendale, Arizona in September. However, even though a press release said that more dates will be announced in the future, fans overseas might not get the opportunity to see the two perform together anytime soon.

Will Drake & 21 Savage Tour In The UK And Europe?

Unfortunately, that might not be a possibility this year. 21 Savage is still locked into a longstanding grievance with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) which could prevent him from being able to travel outside the US. You may remember that he was arrested in February 2019 due to an expired visa; he immigrated to the US from the UK with his mom as a young teen and did not realize that his visa had expired. The case was still in limbo as of last April. While there are a few Canadian dates on the lineup, a UK tour might be riskier.

Savage’s fellow Brit MF DOOM faced a similar situation when he went on an international tour in 2010, discovering that he could not reenter the country afterward despite living and working here for most of his adult life. Unless 21’s immigration case can get sorted by the time the North American frame of the tour ends, it wouldn’t be a great idea for him to travel outside the US, lest he get stuck on the outside looking in.

Oscar Nominee Tems’ Absurdly Expansive, View-Blocking Dress Inspired Jokes And Fury In Equal Measure

Tems attended the Oscars with a nomination in the Best Original Song category for co-writing “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther. The song, performed by Rihanna during the broadcast, lost to “Naatu Naatu” (by Kala Bhairava, M. M. Keeravani, and Rahul Sipligunj) from RRR. Yet Tems — as with fellow nominee Lady Gaga (who performed “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick) — also made headlines for what materialized on the red carpet.

Actually, Tems’ red carpet look overflowed into the semi-stratosphere of the Dolby Theatre. The “Essence” collaborator (who nabbed a spot on our the Most Anticipated R&B Albums Of 2023 list) attended the awards ceremony in a Lever Spring/Summer Couture dress. The gown burst out of all structural confines on the red carpet, and that includes the dramatic headpiece, which remained in place when she took her seat.

As a result, several people who were seated behind and surrounding Tems ended up not being able to see the show. The “stratus cloud” effect was real:

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Yep, Tems ended up blocking views from people who either tweeted about this absurdity or were photographed as such.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Was this a “rude” move as noted on Twitter?

Or was this a case of purposefully “taking up space” to express confidence with being seen and heard as a Black woman?

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Both statements can be true and valid, as a few Tweeters noted.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Still, the debate raged between people who found Tems’ strategy to be less than polite at a seated event (the headdress could have been adjustable, at least?)…

How To Buy Tickets For Drake And 21 Savage’s ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’

Drake interrupted the morning-after-the-Oscars news cycle on Monday, March 13, by announcing a tour with a sentimental Instagram video. The breadcrumbs have been all over the floor for a while.

As part of his and 21 Savage’s fake media blitz to promote Her Loss, their No. 1 November joint album, Drake floated that a co-headlining show at London’s O2 “has to happen.” He also explained on his Table For One SiriusXM vehicle that he was “excited for tour,” which he viewed as “just another opportunity for me to be with my brother.” The following month, he yet again all-but-confirmed a 2023 tour.

But now, it’s official: Drake and 21 Savage are heading out on the 29-date It’s All A Blur Tour — Drake’s first tour since 2018’s Aubrey & The Three Migos Tour.

Per press release, tickets will first become available for Cash App customers on Wednesday, March 15, at noon local time until Thursday, March 16, at 10 p.m. local time. The Sprite presale will run from noon local time to 10 p.m. local time on Thursday. The general public sale is slated for Friday, March 17, beginning at noon local time.

All ticket information can be found here.

Below, check out the official tour poster and all announced North American dates. (Additional shows will be revealed later, including a highly anticipated Toronto stop.)

Nicki Minaj Now Follows Ice Spice On Social Media, And Fans Are Gearing Up For A Potential Collaboration

Ice Spice is rap music’s latest darling. The Bronx native made a splash with the release of her breakout single “Munch (Feelin’ U)” and has continued to dominate across streaming platforms thanks to her debut EP Like…?. To some, the musician’s quick success comes as a shock. However, to Ice Spice, she manifested this years ago.

After earning her first Billboard Hot 100 chart placements — thanks to the singles “Gangsta Boo” featuring Lil Tjay at No. 82 and “Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2” with PinkPantheress currently at No. 4 — Ice Spice power of manifestation is hard at work. Another thing she manifested was grabbing the attention of rap legend Nicki Minaj.

Back in 2020, Ice Spice tweeted, “Omg, Nicki just followed me agh,” before following up to letting it be clear, it hadn’t happened yet, writing, “practicing.”

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

However, it didn’t take long before Nicki Minaj actually followed her. Shocked by the moment, yesterday (March 12), Ice Spice returned to the initial post, quote tweeting to write, “omg,” to confirm Minaj has indeed followed her on Instagram.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

A follow from Nicki Minaj is quite rare indeed. In fact, Minaj is known for using social media to only connect with her extreme Barb fans. To this day, Minaj only follows a handful of fellow rappers, including JT and Yung Miami of the City Girls, Bia, Katie Got Bands, and a few others. All of those are former collaborators, which has led fans to believe that the pair would jump into the studio soon.

Minaj further fueled the rumors by commenting, “Btchs slow so I gih dem a pass. Nah. Grah! No more passes Princess…Let’s go,” on Ice Spice’s latest Instagram posts.

Ice Spice has publicly shared her love for Minaj several times, just recently on stage on Rolling Loud. “I’m standing on the same stage Lil Wayne and my idol Nicki Minaj were less than 24 hours ago. My life is insane,” Spice said.

Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’ Performance At The Oscars Garnered The Singer A Standing Ovation, And Rightfully So

Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII performance may have sparked quite a few (unjustifiable) compliments to the FCC, there’s no one complaining about her performance during tonight’s (March 12) 2023 Oscars ceremony. Gleaming with immaculately jeweled costuming and pregnancy bliss, performed “Lift Me Up” from Wakanda 2: Wakanda Forever.

The moving tribute track to the late actor Chadwick Boseman brought the entertainer out of musical retirement. With her baby bump on full display, Rihanna took the stage built out to resemble the breathtaking nature shots shown in the film. Backed by a full orchestra and a host of background singers, the singer belted out the emotional lyrics to the song, which was rewarded with a standing ovation after her conclusion.

Watch the full performance of “Lift Me Up” below.

When asked about what went into creating the tribute track, co-writer Tems said, “After speaking with [director Ryan Coogler] and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them. Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.”

Nick Cannon And His Nearly Dozen Children Were The Butt Of An Oscars’ Opening Monologue Joke

All eyes are on the 2023 Oscars for several reasons. The first, of course, is the potential history to be made depending on who walks away with the winner. The second is whether or not and in which ways this evening’s host Jimmy Kimmel will address last year’s infamous. Well, during Kimmel’s opening monologue, the television host and comedian held nothing back, starting with the slap.

But as the monologue continued, a few other public figures caught a few strays, including television host, actor, rapper, and comedian Nick Cannon. Cannon and his eleven children were on the receiving end of Kimmel’s throwaway jokes.

When poking fun at Avatar: The Way of Water and just how much money the film had to earn in order to break even, Kimmel pulled in Cannon’s large family. “Avatar: The Way of Water was the most expensive movie ever made. Disney spent 2 billion dollars to make this movie. Just to break even, all of Nick Cannon’s children had to see Avatar four times,” joked Kimmel.

Cannon hasn’t commented on the joke just yet. However, he, himself has used his love of procreation as a punchline in his own works. In fact, earlier this week, Cannon filmed a mock game show skit titled, Who’s Having My Baby, with Kevin Hart.

Lil Yachty And Quinta Brunson Will Appear On ‘Saturday Night Live’ Next Month

The first Saturday Night Live guests of April have been revealed. During tonight’s episode, which was hosted by Jenna Ortega and featured two musical performances from The 1975, an onscreen message between commercials revealed that Quinta Brunson from Abbott Elementary will host the first SNL episode of April. The news was then shared on SNL‘s social accounts shortly after.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Joining Brunson will be rapper and singer Lil Yachty, who is still hot off the release of his critically-acclaimed new album, Let’s Start Here.

Yachty’s latest album features him making a departure from his Soundcloud rap stylings and experimenting with a more psychedelic rock sound. In a recent interview with Billboard, Yachty revealed that making this album was vital for him to show his fans — and more importantly, himself — his wide range of musical talents.

“There’s a lot of kids who haven’t heard any of my references,” he said. “They don’t know anything about Bon Iver or Pink Floyd or Black Sabbath or James Brown. I wanted to show people a different side of me — and that I can do anything, most importantly.”

Quinta Brunson and Lil Yachty’s episode of Saturday Night Live will air on Saturday, April 1 at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC. The episode will also stream live on Peacock.

A Posthumous Gangsta Boo Album Featuring Latto, Run The Jewels, And Juicy J Is Reportedly In The Works

It appears new music from Memphis rap legend Lola “Gangsta Boo” Mitchell is on the way. Today (March 11), TMZ reported that the late rapper’s estate is planning a posthumous album for a tentative release this summer.

According to the publication, former Three 6 Mafia members La Chat and Crunchy Black are set to appear on the album. The album will also reportedly feature collaborations from Run The Jewels, Skepta, and Latto. Before her death, Boo collaborated with Latto on “FTCU,” a track with GloRilla interpolating Boo’s Three 6 Mafia cut, “Tear Da Club Up.”

Fellow Three 6 Mafia members DJ Paul and Juicy J are reportedly planning to contribute to the album’s production, along with Metro Boomin’, BeatKing, and Nick Hook.

The album is apparently planned for release on Boo’s birthday, August 7.

Boo’s mother Veronica Mitchell told TMZ that while she is still mourning the loss of her daughter, it warms her heart to see that her music still lives on.

“My daughter Lola was my only baby girl. I was so proud when she would rap as a little girl. She became the Queen of Memphis and God brought her home to be with her daddy Cedric and her brother Derron,” she said. “I miss her but I know she’s happy with them.”

A Third Person Died After Sustaining Injuries At GloRilla’s New York Concert

Tragedy struck at GloRilla’s March 5 performance at Rochester, New York’s Main Street Armory: People were injured during a crowd surge, with one person later dying at the hospital. It was later reported that a second person died from their injuries, and now, so too has a third.

The Associated Press reports that according to police, 35-year-old Syracuse resident Aisha Stephens died in the hospital on Wednesday (March 8) night. That follows the deaths of 33-year-old Buffalo resident Rhondesia Belton and 35-year-old Rochester resident Brandy Miller. Stephens was the only remaining person in the hospital who was there as a result of injuries sustained at the concert. Police note the stampede, which took place as the show was ending, was possibly triggered by “unfounded fears of gunfire.”

GloRilla previously addressed the situation on social media, writing in a tweet, “I’m just now hearing about what happened wtf [single tear emojis] praying everybody is ok.” She later added, “I am devastated & heartbroken over the tragic deaths that happened after Sunday’s show. My fans mean the world to me [single tear emoji] praying for their families & for a speedy recovery of everyone affected.”

Meanwhile, it appears there won’t be any more concerts at the Main Street Armory for at least the foreseeable future, as the venue just had its entertainment license revoked.
