Viola Davis has joined an exclusive club. Tonight during the 65th GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony, the access was awarded the Grammy for Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording for her Finding Me memoir, earning her EGOT status. Only 17 other entertainers have earned the coveted designation, and Davis makes history by being the 18th.

The acronym, which stands for the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards, is a significant designation given to people who have won all four major entertainment awards. Past EGOT winners include Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Whoopi Goldberg, and more.

This year, Davis found herself going up against four other previous Grammy winners, including Jamie Foxx (“Act Like You Got Some Sense”), Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World”), Questlove (“Music is History”) and fellow EGOT recipient Mel Brooks (“All About Me!: My Remarkable Life in Show Business”).

Davis will be able to add her new title alongside her two Tony Awards (“King Hedley II,” “Fences”), her Oscar (the film adaptation of “Fences”), and her Emmy (“How to Get Away with Murder”), for which she became the first black actress to win.

Despite Davis being snubbed by the Academy Awards this year, the Woman King actress still made history. With a career spanning over three decades, the actress has undoubtedly earned her flowers.

For the first time in nearly three years, Jay-Z And Beyoncé’s Roc Nation Brunch made its post-pandemic return this weekend with the help of some of the star-studded guests. The power couple called on some of music’s biggest stars to help them celebrate the upcoming 2023 Grammys. Clips surfaced online showing that attendees were brought into Jay and Bey’s world of luxury — complete with expensive gowns, a small orchestra, and a roofless foyer decorated with photos, including a portrait of Lauren London and Nipsey Hussle.

It’s been reported that the invite-only event took place at a private residence in Los Angeles.

Like in its past iterations, a bevy of celebrities, musicians, and other tastemakers attended the swanky affair. Of course, members from Roc Nation were in attendance to show love to Jay and Bey, including DJ Khaled, Rapsody, and Joey Bada$$.

One noticeable difference this year is that the power duo arrived separately. Jay-Z was spotted attending the fancy event with renowned stylist June Ambrose. Bey was spotted alongside her longtime bodyguard Julius de Boer and stopped to chat with Lil Kim before meeting up with her husband to schmooze around with their guests like Nigerian singer Tems.

Other attendees included Swiss Beatz, Lil Uzi Vert, Chloe and Halle Bailey, G Herbo, Jacquees, Janelle Monae, J.I.D., Kelly Rowland, Lil Baby, Mustard, Miguel Pusha T, SAINt JHN, Teyana Taylor, Vic Mensa, and more. Jack Harlow’s aspirations to become a beloved industry baby is underway. As the “First Class” prepares for tonight’s Grammy Awards, where hopes to win big, Hulu just released the first look at its upcoming film White Men Can’t Jump remake starring the musician.

Despite appearing in several commercials and documentaries, this film marks Harlow’s acting debut. He has big shoes to fill stepping into the role of quirky street basketball player Billy Hoyle. While Harlow certainly has the charisma of the character nailed, he still needs to showcase another side playing off his co-star actor Sinqua Walls (Teen Wolf, Power, The Breaks), who plays his athletic partner in crime, Sidney Deane.

The original beloved 1992 film starred actors Woody Harrelson (who originally played Billy Hoyle) and Wesley Snipes (who originally played Sidney Deane) quickly became a cultural fixture. But, even though this is Harlow’s first significant role, director Charles Kidd II, professionally known as Calmatic, who has worked with Harlow in the past, isn’t worried.

In an interview with Esquire, Calmatic confidently said, “Man, listen, after this film, I don’t think Jack Harlow is going to be a rapper.”

Calmatic later clarified his statement to say, “I mean, I’m sure he is not going to give up rap, but he’s definitely going to be a Mark Wahlberg—where I think people are going to know him more for acting than his music,” adding, “And so I’m happy that he got his feet wet with White Men Can’t Jump so I can take a little responsibility for that. I’m excited for the world to see him and get the full scope of him as an artist.”

The original film, written and directed by Ron Shelton, came out in 1992. The film starred Woody Harrelson as basketball player Billy Hoyle, who teams up with Wesley Snipes’ Sidney Deane to make money by hustling people on the court. The first-look trailer immerses viewers into the world of recreational basketful and is filled with professional references.

The Beyhive is feverously counting down the days until their queen, Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour tickets, go on sale.

Ticketmaster has taken a few steps to ensure a smooth transaction process in the hopes of avoiding a repeat of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour debacle. Also, Ticketmaster has reportedly updated its resale policy to deter scalpers from spiking the cost of tickets. Although these measures could certainly help the average fan, Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson has her own safety net.

During a recent visit to Z100’s afternoon show, Maxwell and Crystal, Larsson spoke about how she admires Beyoncé and can’t wait to see her perform live when the Renaissance World Tour makes a stop in Stockholm.

“I’m so excited! I’m so excited! Premiere night [of the tour’s European wing]? In Stockholm? Stop,” Larsson tells co-host, Crystal Rosas.

Larsson then revealed that being an artist and superfan comes with its perks or, as she says, “Top two things about being an artist is that you meet people throughout your life that can secure you Beyoncé tickets. And it’s not number two.”

As the room laughed, Larsson doubled down, “It’s true! The fact that I’m signed to LiveNation as an artist I’m like, ‘hey, hey, hey,’ I know who to call,” later adding, “even if they make me pay for the tickets I know I can secure them which is the important part. I will be there!”

Love is in the air this Grammy weekend. As we saw earlier in the night, Offset and Cardi B couldn’t keep their hands off of each other at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammys Gala. Also in attendance were Lizzo and her longtime boyfriend, Myke Wright.

Looking happily in love, Lizzo shared images of her and her man on her social media accounts, announcing a “Hard Launch” of their relationship.

Though, to hardcore Lizzo fans, this “Hard Launch” comes as no surprise at all. In her HBO Max documentary Love Lizzo, which premiered last November, Lizzo detailed her relationship with Wright, from their first meeting, to their first break-up, to the healing process, to finding their way back to each other.

As she mentions in a fan-favorite cut from her sophomore album, Special, Lizzo does not “Break Up Twice.” In an interview with Howard Stern that took place last December, Lizzo said her relationship with Wright is something she believes will last forever.

“Don’t waste your time, honey. I am very much in love with Myke.” She said. “There’s nobody else I’m going to be with for the rest of my life.”

We’re just hours away from the 2023 Grammy Awards, and things are heating up. Tonight (February 4), at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala, husband-wife duo Offset and Cardi B made an appearance.

You have to marry me,’ and he was like, ‘Alright, let’s get married,’” Cardi said, recalling the events that led to them getting married in their home bedroom. “I was like, ‘Let’s just get married then. Late rapper Juice WRLD‘s music catalog was reportedly sold to Opus Music Group, according to Billboard. A source reported to the magazine that his catalog was sold as part of a nine-figure deal last year. As part of the deal, Opus now owns 90% of Juice WRLD’s interest in master recording income and 90% of his share of publishing ownership.

The acquired catalog includes all Juice’s previously released albums, mixtapes, singles, and EPs, as well as “hundreds” of unreleased songs. Though, his labels, Grade A Productions and Interscope Records still own Juice’s master recordings.

Neither Juice WRLD’s representatives nor Opus Music Group has directly commented on the matter, however, Opus did issue a statement to the magazine.

“To represent the body of work of Juice Wrld – whose cultural significance and generational influence can’t be overstated – is an honor and a responsibility,” said Opus Music Group to Billboard.

Juice WRLD released two albums, 2018’s Goodbye & Good Riddance and 2019’s Death Race To Love before his untimely death, as well as a collaborative album with Future called WRLD On Drugs. Since his death in 2019, two posthumous albums, Legends Never Die and Fighting Demons have been released.

According to Opus’ website, the publishing firm also owns recordings by Maluma and Rauw Alejandro.

Last month, Trippie Redd released Mansion Musik, a 25-track album with production primarily handled by Chief Keef. While this seems like enough music to tide fans over for a long period of time, he recently revealed that Mansion Musik is the precursor to something even more impressive.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Trippie teased a new project called Love Letter.

“I’m trying to come up with the cover art and add a few songs for that record,” said Trippie. “So, I wanted to do this new one to do a Lil Wayne, Sorry 4 The Wait, type of deal.”

Trippie was referring to Lil Wayne’s 2011 mixtape, Sorry 4 The Wait, which came out months before Weezy’s hotly anticipated album, Tha Carter IV.

Elsewhere in the interview, Trippie recalled the era of rap, which launched the careers of Trippie, Playboi Carti, and Lil Uzi Vert.

He spoke fondly on the era, saying, “The time and space we were in, at that era, was one of the best eras in music. Everyone was more open and trying to be pure. There was an open space to be creative in the music industry.

He lamented the current state of the industry, saying “Now, people are more like business partners.”

Jack Harlow is quickly becoming one of the most decorated rappers of our time. This past Wednesday (February 1), the “First Class” hitmaker was honored with the Thomas Edison Award at the annual Greater Louisville Inc. soiree.

The Thomas Edison Award recognizes extraordinary achievement and commitment to the community of Louisville, Kentucky, where Harlow is from. According to Louisville Business First, who was in attendance at the event, Harlow reiterated his love for the city in his acceptance speech.

“People ask me where I live and I tell them I don’t live in Atlanta or New York. I don’t live in California. I live in Louisville, Kentucky,” Harlow said. “I try to make sure I let the world know if you want to do a photo shoot, if you want to take a meeting, if you want to shoot a commercial, if you want to get in the studio and make some music you’re going to have to book that connection flight and come.”

He continued, saying, “We’re going to do some incredible things in the city over the next few years, I promise you.”

Following a heated lawsuit with Bacardi, Jay-Z has accepted a multi-billion dollar deal with the premium coganc brad regarding D’Usse, which the two have co-owned since 2011. In October, the “Family Feud” rapper sued the liquor company demanding “financial clarity,” TMZ reported. However, according to Complex, after striking this new deal, Jay-Z and his company, SC Liquor, is excited more than ever to renew the partnership.

“Growing D’Usse over the past decade from an idea to one of the fastest-selling spirits in history has been a blessing,” Jay-Z said in a recent statement. “The next phase of this journey will further cement D’Usse’s legacy as one of the world’s most respected brands. I am excited to renew this partnership with Bacardi.”

Prior to the lawsuit, Jay offered to purchase the spirits company for $1.5 billion but was rejected. Despite him asserting that the liquor brand was around $2.5 billion, Bacardi countered with a significantly lower offer of $460 million.

The new agreement required Jay to sell a significant stake in D’Usse. Before this incident, he held 50/50 ownership of the cognac brand with Bacardi, so presumably, Bacardi now owns at least 75 percent of D’Usse.

Complex estimates “that the newly announced acquisition stake was sold at a valuation of at least $3 billion.”
