Ari Lennox Unpacks Her Attractions In Her Steamy New Video For ‘Waste My Time’

Ari Lennox has shared a new visual from her acclaimed sophomore album, Age/Sex/Location. On the standout track, Lennox kills time with a man, while reminding him she’s in control.

“Waste my time, get on my line / ‘Cause I got the time to waste / Use that mouth blow this back out / Back up every word you say,” sings Lennox on the song’s chorus.

In the song’s accompanying visual, Lennox is seen in a therapy session, unpacking her attraction to men who aren’t good for her. She then quickly drifts off into a steamy fantasy, which sees her getting hot with a man, wading in a pool, and dancing in the clouds. As her fantasy ends, she gives her therapist the perfect answer to her question.

Today (January 26), Lennox kicked off her Age/Sex/Location tour. Fans can still purchase tickets for the tour here, and we would advise them to do so quickly. Back in December, Lennox took to Twitter and revealed that this tour would be her last.

“I love my genuine fans so much,” she said in a since-deleted tweet, “and can’t wait to give you my all every night!!

There’s no telling whether or not Lennox will change her mind on this.

But in the meantime, you can check out the video “Waste My Time” above.

Coi Leray Explains Why ‘It’s No Competition’ Among Her Fellow Female Rappers

Coi Leray is in the midst of a stunning resurgence. While rap fans undoubtedly slept on her versatile debut album despite standout singles like “Blick Blick” and “Anxiety,” she bounced back late last year with the Grandmaster Flash-sampling “Players.”

Today, in a new interview with Billboard, she discusses the ups and downs of her career so far and explains why “it’s no competition” among her fellow female rappers as they storm the charts in a way that hasn’t been seen in hip-hop in nearly 20 years.

“I don’t compete with them, because you just can’t,” she says. “The best thing about this industry [is], there’s room for everybody. That’s why it’s no competition. I could be here and you could be here right with me. At the end of the day, even if we at the top of the mountain, I’ma be Coi and you gonna be you, and we could trade places or I could become someone else. I’m gonna determine my greatness, my destiny, and my future. What’s for you is for you, while we’re at the top together. Steel sharpens steel.”

She also listed some of her favorite peers in the rap game, naming GloRilla, Ice Spice, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Flo Milli, and rising star Lola Brooke, as well as name-checking Latto, who was recently embroiled in a ghostwriting controversy over leaked reference tracks for Coi’s “Blick Blick” and BIA’s “Whole Lotta Money.”

What Time Will The 2023 Grammy Awards Start?

The full list of 2023 Grammys nominees has been out since November. Trevor Noah confirmed to Billboard in December that he would host the Grammys for the third-straight year. Yesterday, January 25, The Recording Academy revealed the “first wave” of performers for the year’s ceremony as Bad Bunny, Brandi Carlile, Kim Petras, Lizzo, Luke Combs, Mary J. Blige, Sam Smith, and Steve Lacy.

Cool. When is it?

The 2023 Grammys will air live on CBS on Sunday, February 5 — so, not this Sunday but the next Sunday — beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The ceremony will take place at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena and, in addition to CBS on television, will stream live (and later on demand) on Paramount+. The full rundown can be found at the Grammys’ official website.

With Billboard, Noah reflected on becoming the second person alongside LL Cool J to host the Grammys at least three-straight times.

“I don’t think it’s normal to host it once, so I don’t have a great frame of reference for this. It is thrilling. For me, it’s a cheat code because I’m a fan of almost all the people who are there,” Noah said. “It has also been interesting because of the journey. The first one was [during] COVID-19, and it was a completely different way to make the show. And then the next one was in Las Vegas because of the restrictions [in Los Angeles], and that was a different type of show. Now it’s exciting [because] it’ll be the first one for me back in LA — that’s hopefully not just normal, but different for the right reasons.”

Rich The Kid Honored Late Migos Member Takeoff With A Permanent Tribute: A New Tattoo In His Memory

February 1 will mark three months since Takeoff was fatally shot outside of 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston, where he attended a private event with Quavo. But regardless of how much time passes, Rich The Kid has ensured he will never forget Takeoff.

Tattoo MF Red has posted video of him inking Rich The Kid with a simple yet powerful tattoo: “Takeoff” is written on the outside of Rich The Kid’s hand.

According to TMZ, the tattoo appointment happened in Tampa, Florida and only took 30 minutes. Rich The Kid squeezed it in between a recording session and a scheduled radio interview.

Takeoff was best known as one-third of Migos — alongside Quavo and Offset — but the 28-year-old beloved Atlanta rapper and Quavo had released their joint album Only Built For Infinity Links less than a month before Takeoff’s tragic passing.

When news broke on November 1, Rich The Kid took to Instagram to express his grief:

“Today I lost more than a brother,” he wrote. “My twin my best friend everything. I don’t wanna believe it I can’t. The most humble person I know we used to share shoes & clothes before we made it with no problem! I miss you already you didn’t deserve that!! I can’t stop crying I love you so much bro forever.”

Takeoff and Rich The Kid dropped their joint “Crypto” single in March 2022. It was far from the first time they collaborated. As noted by Billboard, Rich The Kid met Migos in 2012 and featured on their 2013 track “Jumpin’ Like Jordan.” Takeoff hopped on Rich The Kid songs like “Trap-A-Holics” in 2013 or “Rockets” in 2019. Quavo and Takeoff also featured on Rich The Kid’s “Too Blessed” in 2020.

Cordae Has Enough Songs With Anderson .Paak And J. Cole For A Full EP

In a new interview with Zane Lowe, Cordae says he has enough songs with “RNP” and “Two Tens” collaborators Anderson .Paak and J. Cole to release a full EP.

And if I may be so bold, he should release that immediately, just for me, because it would make me very happy.

Cordae appeared on the Apple Music 1 radio show to talk about the new track, “Two Tens,” and during the course of the discussion, revealed that not only has he recorded enough songs for the above-mentioned EP, but he’s also got about 17 full-length albums besides that.

“I made a lot of songs last year,” he said. “I think last year I recorded literally 180 songs. I know some artists record like a thousand songs, but it feels like that’s the most songs I recorded in the year, for sure. Last year, it was also the most touring I did, so I’m proud of myself for still recording 180 songs.”

While discussing his chemistry with .Paak, he revealed the wealth of material he’d recorded with the older artist. “We literally got a mix tape full of joints of me and .Paak on — well, we got an EP full of joints with me, .Paak, and Cole beats… It’s because this is really my friend. Other artists be like, ‘Ph that’s my brother,’ or, ‘Oh that’s my man,’ saying that sh*t just to sound cool. I don’t really have too many friends, to be honest. He’s one of my real life genuine friends.”

Bad Bunny Reached A Settlement In The Lawsuit Over His Hit ‘Safaera’

Bad Bunny‘s “Safaera” was recently at the center of a copyright infringement lawsuit, which has now been settled. He and his collaborators have reached a preliminary settlement over claims that the song stole samples from three songs from DJ Playero. The parties reached a “settlement in principle” during a conference on January 17 before the hearing.

“A draft of a settlement agreement has been circulated, but the parties expect this process to take some time since the settlement is complex and will require the review and approval of multiple corporate and individual parties,” Bad Bunny’s lawyers and the record company that owns DJ Playero’s works wrote. A formal dismissal of the case must be filed by February 17 or the parties have to report back on the status of the settlement process.

Bad Bunny had a massive 2022 after unveiling the No. 1 album Un Verano Sin Ti, which was Spotify Wrapped’s most globally streamed album last year. He was also named Apple Music’s 2022 Artist of the Year; Billboard revealed that the star was the top touring artist of the year with a total touring gross of $373.5 million on the aptly-titled World’s Hottest Tour. He got caught in some controversy for tossing a fan’s phone, but many agreed that he was entitled to privacy.

Doja Cat Clapped Back At Haters Of Her Red Crystal-Covered Look With A Hilarious New Fashion Statement

Doja Cat may have been snubbed during award nomination season, but that hasn’t stopped the fashion world from embracing her. Although the pop star has slightly stepped away from music, promising to return soon, in the meantime, she’s pouring her creativity into her latest Paris Haute Couture Week looks.

The rapper turned heads after showing up to sit front row at Schiaparelli’s Haute Couture show, covered head-to-toe in 30,000 Swarovski crystals, an artistic freedom she won’t have had if she didn’t shave her hair off. The look, which took five hours to complete, was all the buzz on social media as critics praised Doja for embracing couture’s innovation roots.

However, in her latest look for Viktor&Rolf’s show also caused a stir but for a much different reason. No, the musician wasn’t doused in jewels. This time, the entertainer had a few extra pairs of eyelashes strategically placed across her face.

When asked about the inspiration behind the look, speaking with NYLON, she told the outlet, “A few days ago, I did a Schiaparelli [show] and people were [commenting that] I didn’t have lashes on, and they were disappointed that I didn’t have lashes. Yet, I worked with one of the greatest makeup artists of all time, Pat McGrath. And so today, I gave them lashes. So, I hope they’re happy. I just want to make people happy.”

Doja’s comments to the outlet were meant to be snarky and sarcastic, undoubtedly true to her personality. Fans took to Twitter to join in on the joke.

Bas’ ‘Diamonds’ Video Is A Tragic Cautionary Tale Of The Pursuit Of Happiness

Ari Lennox isn’t the only one over on Dreamville Records with a banger on her hands. Rapper Bas is back with new music since his joint project with Gunna, Pick Me Up, which was released back in April 2022. The Queens, New York representer teamed up with producers Linden Jay, Paul Castelluzzo, and Joe Harrisson to churn out his haunting new single, “Diamonds.”

The highly sought-after gem may be marketed as a girl’s best friend, but in hip-hop, we’ve seen time and time again that the more a rapper acquires these jewels, the bigger the target is on their backs for potential harm from those wishing to take it for themselves. On the track, Bas explores this sentiment but from a different angle.

Expressed in the stanza, “Wonder where the day goes, I been out of line / If love is all you need, then let me spend my pain / You n***a make it rain on / Hunnid on my wrist just to make it rain on / Look at all the whips, spick and they span / And you feel like you the man / But you cannot rub the stain off / No, you can not rub the stain off,” Bas details just how the relentless pursuit of these material possessions are often a front musicians put on to mask other much deeper emotional wounds rather than surface level vanity.

The track’s official video, directed by Ryan Doubiago, demonstrates just one tragic tale of how this plays out as Bas serves as the actor stuck in this mindset. The grayscale video opens with the quote, “we only talk about real sh*t when we’re f*cked up,” as Bas is seated on an opulent leather couch smoking and drinking dark liquor.

As the scenery rotates through several different social scenarios repeating Bas’ lifecycle, he becomes less and less connected to himself, his surroundings, and his former lover, which serves as a metaphor for the emptiness those tethered to this quest feel. Bas recklessly falls back into the party crowd when the scenes transition from the home-like setting when his former fling confronts him. But in the end, instead of being helped by this mysterious lady, his supposed saving grace, his chain ends up being his ultimate downfall.

The chain turns into a rope and hangs Bas (a metaphor for the flashy life ultimately being the death of him) as both his love interest and the world watch. Instead of intervening, the crowd pulls out their smartphones to record it with the intent to share it with the world as a piece of entertainment rather than the horror film it is.

When asked about the inspiration behind the track, Bas told Complex, “‘Diamonds’ stems from the stark realization that, as artists in the public light, our pains and traumas are consistently up for the public’s consumption.”

Bas has a solution for the problem, “We have to continually explore and give more of ourselves to feed the insatiable appetite of the audience. We experience and watch our peers go through life-altering and irrevocably damaging moments that just end up as clickbait or social media fodder. We make public appearances and wear masks in order to be who the public wants us to be. Shine bright for them. Yet our inner turmoils just fester underneath it all. The trappings of the life we chose and the dreams we pursue can often be the cause of our downfall.”

Rick Ross Has Never Driven In A Tesla Because He Fears It Will Automatically Drive Him To The Police

Rick Ross may love to live the flashy lifestyle, with large mansions and luxury vehicles. But there is one luxury vehicle he refuses to set foot in. In a since-expired Instagram Story (per XXL), Ross revealed he has never ridden in a Tesla. His reason: He believes the vehicle may bring him to the feds.

Ross said to someone off camera

“I won’t say I’ll never have a smart car, but I’ve never ridden in a Tesla. Never. Never in my life. I’ve never ridden in a Tesla and the reason being is because I’ve always had in the back of my mind, the government could tap into the brain of the car. ‘OK, where’s Rick? He’s over there. Nah, bring him in for questioning.’ [Makes car sounds with mouth]… It’s leaving Wingstop. You pull up to the building and the agent walk out. ‘Hey, Rick.’”

He continued, “What, you think it can’t? So if you get in that muthaf*cka, that muthaf*cka lock the door and take you where it wanna go. You think you finna smoke a blunt? That b*tch will suck the air out that b*tch.”

It’s safe to say Ross will most likely be sticking with his Aston Martin.
